Help shape the Avondale SBA
We publish every idea before we adopt it: mission, service area, bylaws and dues. Read the drafts and tell us what you think.
Anyone can read a draft while it's open for feedback, and after feedback has closed.

A published draft is never edited. A change is posted as a new version, and the earlier ones stay readable with their feedback.

The next step for the Avondale SBA is to apply for 501(c)(#) status. There are three options: 501(c)(6), 501(c)(3), or a 501(c)(6) with a companion 501(c)(3).
An organization's mission statement is a grounding force and a guiding North Star.
An organization's core principles are commitments that guide decision making.
The lines of the Avondale geographic area are clear, but the lines between Logan Square and Avondale businesses are a bit more ambiguous. Regardless of our boundary area, our goal is to be a collaborative and supportive Chamber partner to nearby neighborhoods.
Avondale has a strong collection of restaurants, retailers, service businesses, manufacturers, creative businesses, nightlife venues, professional firms, home-based businesses, and legacy institutions. However, those businesses do not necessarily function as a coordinated commercial district. The Avondale Small Business Association has identified six areas where we can serve local businesses.
Our proposed first year goals are designed to be action oriented, problem solving focused, and impact driven.
Purpose-built to be pro-business, with transparency, oversight, and inclusion at its core.
The Avondale Small Business Association should be open to all independent businesses, at any stage.
